The Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) has launched three new initiatives meant to help drive industry-wide sustainability practices and shape the future of adventure travel.

Announced at the organization’s recent Adventure Travel World Summit (ATWS) in Panama City, the new initiatives include the following:

  • Membership Sustainability Commitment
  • Redesigned ATTA Membership HUB platform and mobile app
  • Refreshed Adventure.Travel website.

Membership Sustainability Commitment: A Collective Call to Action

ATTA has set its sights on the lofty goal of creating the largest sustainable travel community across the globe. As part of that effort, the organization introduced the Membership Sustainability Commitment at this year’s summit.

“The program is designed to unite the adventure travel community by inviting members to make a formal commitment to sustainable practices,” ATTA said in a statement.

The member commitment calls upon ATTA members to demonstrate their sustainability efforts in one of three ways:

  • Through a third-party certification like Travelife or B Corp
  • Showing progress towards a certification.
  • Participating in third-party sustainability assessments like Nature Positive Tourism.

Members are also being encouraged to share their sustainable practices, successes, challenges and best practices.

ATTA will also offer members a network of resources to help businesses and destinations achieve their sustainability goals including access to industry discussions, webinars, and workshops on the redesigned HUB platform.

New ATTA Member HUB: A Digital Space for Global Connection

ATTA second initiative, a new Member HUB platform and mobile app, is designed to offer an interactive online community platform.

“The HUB allows members to share news, host discussions, and network with other members, media, and industry peers,” ATTA said in a statement.

Key features of the updated HUB include: a completely redesigned interface, tools for easy navigation, and enhanced functionality.

The HUB will feature “spaces” as well, which dive deeper into related topics in the adventure travel industry including Women in Adventure, Marketing, and Technology & AI.

The new HUB platform is available on web browser and a mobile app on the App Store and Google Play.

New Adventure.Travel Sustainable Storytelling Ecosystem

ATTA’s consumer-focused website, Adventure.Travel was also newly-redesigned based on member feedback.

The transformed site is meant to serve as a curated storytelling distribution platform where business members can share travel-focused content to inspire future respective travelers, destinations can showcase adventure activities and highlight local suppliers, and travelers can move from the “dreaming” to “planning” phase with ease.

“With a larger goal in mind of encouraging sustainable travel, ATTA aims to bridge the gap between travelers and ATTA’s global network of sustainable adventure businesses and destinations,” the organization said.
