Travel is no longer just about reaching a destination; it’s about weaving the very fabric of life itself. For many Indians, journeys are fuelled by the desire to immerse themselves in different cultures, savour local cuisines, and uncover unique adventures. As aspirations grow and the world becomes more interconnected, a recent report by Booking.com sheds light on the evolving inspiration behind Indian travellers’ choices in 2024.

In today’s fast-paced world, the way Indians approach travel reflects a broader societal shift toward experience-driven living. Beyond the digital realm, the importance of personal connections remains strong. 57% of Indians turn to family and friends for travel advice.
A remarkable 62% of travellers prefer to book flights alongside their accommodations. 47% of travellers also express interest in pre-booked attractions such as museum tickets and city tours. Furthermore, half of the respondents are keen on making restaurant reservations ahead of time to ensure a delightful culinary experience. As Santosh Kumar, Country Manager for India, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, and Indonesia at Booking.com, articulates, “The Indian traveller’s mindset towards travel has changed, going beyond the destination. They seek experiences that are inspired by what they see, follow, and admire.”
With the rise of experiences fuelled by cinema and social media, the future of Indian travel promises to be vibrant.
